Route Overview
If you want a motorcycle route with almost no traffic lights and world-class wine along the way, Pelješac Peninsula is it. Roughly a 2.5-hour ride from Split, it's a full-day trip that rewards riders with quiet, winding roads and Adriatic views from start to finish.
Head south via the Dalmatian coastal road toward Ston, famous for its medieval walls and salt pans. From there, the peninsula road runs the length of Pelješac past vineyard after vineyard — this region produces Croatia's best Plavac Mali red wine.
What to See and Do
Ston has Europe's second-longest defensive wall, plus arguably the best oysters in the Adriatic. Further along, the vineyard roads invite a stop at a family winery for a tasting, while Orebić offers a beach town facing the island of Korčula and a great lunch spot.
The viewpoints toward Korčula across the strait are some of the most photographed spots on the whole peninsula — worth the extra ten minutes to find a good pull-off.
Which Bike to Rent
An adventure or touring motorcycle handles the peninsula's mix of open road and winding sections best. If you're newer to riding, a 125cc–300cc scooter still manages the route comfortably at a relaxed pace.
Moto Andro in Split can set you up with either, plus panniers if you're staying overnight in Orebić. Fuel up before Ston — gas stations get sparse further down the peninsula.
