Makarska Riviera on a Motorcycle

Why This Route Belongs on Your List

Riding the Makarska Riviera is the single best reason to rent a motorcycle in Split. This 60 km stretch of coastal road hugs the Adriatic Sea on one side and the dramatic cliffs of Biokovo Mountain on the other, delivering one hairpin turn after another with a sea view around every corner.

Unlike the highway inland, the old coastal road (D8) keeps you close to the water the entire way. You'll pass through Omiš, Dugi Rat, Baška Voda and into Makarska itself — each town offering its own beach, konoba and photo stop.

Best Stops Along the Way

Omiš marks where the river canyon meets the sea — a great espresso break before the road narrows into its most scenic section. Baška Voda offers a quiet promenade ideal for a midway swim, while Makarska's old town rewards you with harbor views and a proper seafood lunch.

Don't skip the Biokovo viewpoints — pull over at any of the marked lay-bys for panoramic shots looking out toward the islands of Brač and Hvar.

Renting the Right Bike

For this route we recommend an A2-category motorcycle or a maxi-scooter like the Honda Forza 350 — comfortable for 2–3 hours in the saddle with enough power for the climbs near Biokovo.

Book your bike with Moto Andro in Split and we'll brief you on the route, fuel stops and parking spots in Makarska before you leave the shop.
