Where to Park in Split Old Town

Free and Legal Spots

One of the biggest advantages of touring Split by motorcycle or scooter instead of car is parking — but knowing where you're allowed to leave your bike still matters, especially near the historic center.

Look for marked motorcycle bays along the Riva promenade, designated two-wheeler zones near the Golden Gate entrance to Diocletian's Palace, and side streets just outside the pedestrian core near Marmontova street.

What to Avoid

Split's old town core is largely pedestrian-only with restricted vehicle access, including motorcycles, during daytime hours. Riding into the palace walls themselves is not permitted — always park just outside and walk in.

Fines for ignoring pedestrian-zone restrictions are enforced, so it's not worth the shortcut on a busy summer afternoon.

Tips From Local Riders

Use a disc lock in busy tourist areas — it's standard practice, not paranoia. Riva fills up fastest between 10 AM and 6 PM in July and August, so arrive early if that's your target spot.

Every Moto Andro rental comes with a chain lock and a map showing the nearest legal parking to the palace, so you're not guessing on day one.
